The OpportunityA well-established and growing SME based in Brecon is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is a fully site-based role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of the business while working closely with senior management.
This position would suit a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced SME environment and can confidently manage bookkeeping activities from transaction processing through to month-end support.
Key Responsibilities*Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
*Process purchase and sales invoices
*Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
*Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
*Prepare and submit VAT returns
*Process payroll and maintain employee records (if applicable)
*Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
*Support budgeting and forecasting activities
*Liaise with external accountants and auditors
*Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company procedures
*Monitor and improve financial processes where appropriate
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:
*Previous experience in a Bookkeeper or similar finance position
*Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls
*Experience preparing VAT returns and conducting reconciliations
*Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
*AAT qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential
