Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 OTE + Competitive Basic + Bonus + Benefits
OVERVIEW
An established automotive retailer is seeking a skilled and motivated Vehicle Technician to join its busy workshop team in Dorchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Technician to work within a modern dealership environment, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repair work and vehicle inspections to manufacturer standards. The role offers strong earning potential through a performance-based bonus structure, along with ongoing training and career development opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair work on a range of vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical resources.
• Complete vehicle health checks and identify additional repair requirements.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to manufacturer standards.
• Accurately record all work carried out using dealership systems.
• Liaise with Service Advisors and Workshop Controllers regarding job progress and requirements.
• Maintain high levels of productivity and workmanship quality.
• Follow warranty processes and manufacturer compliance guidelines.
• Support workshop efficiency and contribute to team performance targets.
• Engage in ongoing technical training and development.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Qualified Vehicle Technician (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a franchised dealership or reputable independent workshop.
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• MOT Tester qualification.
• Manufacturer training or accreditation.
• Experience with diagnostics, EV or hybrid systems.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Productivity (hours billed vs hours available).
• Efficiency and quality of work.
• First-time fix rate.
• Warranty compliance.
• Workshop contribution to customer satisfaction.
