Job Description:
Full job descriptionA privately owned SME in Lincoln is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This is a newly created role within a £2m turnover business with clear growth ambitions, offering the chance to make a real impact and shape how finance supports the next phase of development.
Working three or four days per week, you’ll be the go-to person for all financial operations — ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being close to the detail.
The role
You’ll be responsible for managing the full finance cycle, including:
*Processing sales and purchase invoices
*Allocating receipts and payments
*Posting journals and maintaining accurate ledgers
*Bank reconciliations
*Preparing monthly management accounts
*Chasing outstanding debt
*Completing VAT returns
*Managing the relationship with the bank
*Supporting additional tasks such as overseeing outsourced payroll
*Overseeing 2 direct reports
About you
This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on SME environment and enjoys taking ownership. You will bring:
*Experience in bookkeeping or a similar hands-on finance role
*Qualification status flexible - fully qualified, part qualified or QBE all considered
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy
*A proactive, positive approach
*Confidence working independently and managing your own workload
