Job Description:
Full job descriptionAre you a passionate Maths Teacher who believes that strong relationships are the foundation of successful learning?
We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient and dedicated Maths Teacher to join our specialist secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision from September 2026. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people who require a nurturing, supportive and highly personalised approach to education.
Our students have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs which may have impacted their previous educational experiences. Many have experienced significant barriers to learning and require teachers who can look beyond behaviour, build trust, and help them re-engage with education and realise their potential.
As our Maths Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons that inspire confidence, develop mathematical understanding and encourage students to achieve qualifications and outcomes that support their future aspirations.
The successful candidate will:
*Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
*Create a positive, structured and supportive learning environment.
*Develop strong, professional relationships with students based on consistency, trust and respect.
*Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
*Support students to overcome barriers to learning and build resilience.
*Monitor progress effectively and celebrate success, however small.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
We are looking for someone who:
*Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
*Has proven experience delivering Maths to GCSE Level.
*Has a passion for teaching Mathematics and helping young people succeed.
*Understands, or is willing to learn about, trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to education.
*Has high expectations alongside patience, empathy and a sense of humour.
*Can remain calm, consistent and solution-focused when supporting students with SEMH needs.
*Is committed to inclusive practice and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
*Previous experience working within SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or pastoral settings is desirable but not essential.
In return, you will join a dedicated team that is committed to creating opportunities for young people to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. You will have the chance to teach smaller class sizes, build meaningful relationships and make a genuine impact every day.
Mainstream teachers who are looking for a better work life balance are encouraged to apply.
This role would suit a teacher who is passionate about changing lives through education and who understands that progress is about far more than examination results alone.
