Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
CRA Consulting is pleased to be working with a respected specialist claimant law firm in Sheffield to recruit a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join its growing and highly regarded team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor or lawyer at the beginning of their post-qualification career to build specialist expertise within claimant clinical negligence. The firm has developed a strong reputation throughout Yorkshire for delivering exceptional outcomes for clients, providing outstanding levels of client care, and investing heavily in the development of its legal professionals.
Joining a collaborative and supportive team, you will gain exposure to a varied caseload of clinical negligence matters while receiving structured mentoring from experienced practitioners who are recognised specialists within their field.
The Role
You will become part of an expanding Clinical Negligence department that acts on behalf of individuals who have suffered injury as a result of negligent medical treatment.
From the outset, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of cases, developing both your technical expertise and client management skills. The role offers a balance of independent file handling and support on more complex and higher-value matters, allowing you to gain valuable experience across all stages of the claims process.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Managing a caseload of clinical negligence claims under appropriate supervision
*Assisting senior lawyers on complex and high-value litigation matters
*Reviewing and analysing medical records and supporting evidence
*Drafting correspondence, witness statements, legal documentation, and Letters of Claim
*Liaising with medical experts and reviewing expert evidence
*Supporting investigations into liability and causation
*Assisting with settlement negotiations and case strategy
*Building strong relationships with clients and providing clear, compassionate legal advice throughout their claim
As your experience develops, you will be encouraged to take on increasing levels of responsibility and play a more active role in progressing cases from initial instruction through to resolution.
About You
Applications are welcomed from newly qualified solicitors through to those with up to one year’s post-qualification experience.
You may have gained experience in clinical negligence, personal injury, litigation, or a related area during your training contract or post-qualification career and will be looking to specialise within claimant clinical negligence.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
*A genuine interest in claimant clinical negligence litigation
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*Excellent written communication and drafting ability
*High levels of organisation and attention to detail
*A client-focused and empathetic approach
*The ability to manage competing priorities effectively
*A positive attitude towards learning and professional development
What’s on Offer?*Competitive salary commensurate with experience
*Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
*Structured supervision and ongoing mentoring
*Exposure to high-quality claimant clinical negligence work
*Early responsibility and client contact
*Clear pathways for career progression
*Supportive and collaborative working culture
*Comprehensive benefits package including pension and holiday entitlement
Why Join This Firm?
This opportunity offers more than simply a first step into clinical negligence. It provides the chance to join a specialist claimant practice where junior lawyers are encouraged to develop, supported to succeed, and trusted with meaningful responsibility from an early stage.
Working alongside experienced specialists, you will gain hands-on exposure to quality work, receive excellent training, and develop the skills needed to establish a successful long-term career within claimant clinical negligence law.
