Job Description:
Full job descriptionThis is a senior leadership opportunity at the heart of REAL’s Organic Materials portfolio, with strategic and operational responsibility for the Compost Certification Scheme, Compostable Materials Certification Scheme (CMCS), the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme (BCS), and the associated Research Hub.
As Director of Organic Materials Schemes, you will lead a team of specialists across certification management, policy and stakeholder relations, and research, ensuring our schemes remain technically robust, credible, and aligned with the latest standards and regulatory developments. Deep technical knowledge of organic materials — including composting and anaerobic digestion — is essential to this role.
Working closely with the Managing Director you will contribute to Board-level reporting and organisational strategy and play a visible role in influencing policy and engaging with government, regulators, and industry bodies. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of certification and assurance in the composting and biogas sectors, and to make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s circular economy.
As Director of Organic Materials Schemes, you will steer the strategic direction, governance and delivery of these schemes, ensuring they remain robust, trusted and aligned with REAL’s mission and organisational strategy.
This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s transition to net zero. You’ll work at senior leadership level, help set organisational strategy, and play a visible role across industry, government and consumer-facing organisations.
