Full job descriptionHays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Chester to recruit a committed and passionate Year 5 Teacher for a maternity cover role starting in September 2026.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, where staff wellbeing and pupil outcomes are a clear priority.
Your new company
You will take full responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 curriculum. The school is seeking an enthusiastic teacher who can inspire pupils and maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

*Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the national curriculum
*Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress
*Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

What you’ll need to succeed
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable but not essential)
*Strong classroom management skills
*A commitment to raising attainment and supporting all learners
*Excellent communication and organisational skills
