Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Area: Forest Gate, East London
Start Date: September 2026 (Trial ASAP)
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent (12-weeks)
Salary: Paid to scale, dependent on full-time experience
Working hours: 08:15 - 15:30
About the school:A large, mixed secondary school located in Newham, East London. About the role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students with additional needs across KS3 and KS4. You will work both in the classroom and in small group or 1:1 settings, helping students to access the curriculum and make strong academic and personal progress.
We’re looking for a dedicated candidate to:*Provide tailored support to students with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis
*Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
*Support students with a range of needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties)
*Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and behaviour
*Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SENCO
*Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements -*Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
*A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting learning
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
The ideal candidate would have:*A recent degree (Psychology, Education or related field preferred)
*Experience working in a school or similar setting
*Strong interest in SEN and inclusive education
*Patience, empathy and resilience
*A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
