Your new employer is a boutique Lloyd’s broker with a strong international presence, specialising in marine insurance across key global maritime hubs. The business has built a reputation for delivering a highly personalised and technical service to clients, working across a broad range of marine classes including Hull, War and associated risks. With continued growth and expansion, the organisation is now looking to strengthen its technical team with the addition of a Senior Account Handler.
Your new role
In this role, you will operate as a key member of a collaborative team, taking responsibility for managing your own portfolio of marine accounts while supporting brokers across complex placements. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of business, from preparing market documentation through to processing premiums and handling post-placement activity. You will produce and manage market reform contracts, endorsements and related documentation, ensure accurate submission of risks to electronic placement platforms and liaise closely with underwriters. Alongside this, you will oversee renewals and mid-term adjustments, ensuring all activity is completed efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal standards.
The position also requires close interaction with finance teams for reconciliation and premium processing, as well as ongoing communication with international colleagues and stakeholders. You will play a key role in delivering technical support to brokers across Hull and War placements, while contributing to a high-performing and service-driven environment.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have experience within the London Insurance Market in a similar account handling or technical role, with a strong focus on marine business. You will have demonstrable experience producing MRC slips, handling endorsements and processing premiums, alongside a solid understanding of market systems and processes, including electronic placement platforms such as Whitespace.
You will be highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload while maintaining quality and accuracy. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships with brokers, underwriters and internal teams. A proactive mindset and willingness to continue developing technical expertise will be key to success in this role.
