Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor / Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist educational setting commutable from Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity and would particularly suit someone who genuinely cares about young people who struggle to thrive in mainstream education. If you are passionate about helping pupils re-engage with learning, raise their attainment, and build their aspirations for the future, this role offers the chance to make a real and lasting impact.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to engage with a bespoke and varied curriculum designed around individual needs.
Responsibilities include:
*Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils
*Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH)
*Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
*Helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
*Building positive relationships with students to increase confidence and independence
*Supporting pupils to re-engage with education and raise attainment levels
*Contributing to a varied curriculum, including both on-site and off-site enrichment activities
The Ideal Candidate
*Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
*A calm, resilient, and patient approach
*A genuine passion for supporting pupils who may have struggled in mainstream settings
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and proactively
*Relevant qualifications (e.g. TA qualification) are desirable but not essential
