Full job descriptionAre you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialist education setting supporting students with a range of complex needs.
About the RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
You will play a vital role in helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities*Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis
*Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored learning activities
*Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
*Help students develop independence, life skills, and confidence
*Contribute to a nurturing and structured learning environment
What We’re Looking For*Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
*A calm, patient, and resilient approach
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
*A genuine passion for supporting individuals with additional needs
Desirable (but not essential, if the role is of interest)*Experience supporting autism or SEMH
*Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
*Training in behaviour management approaches
