Location: Cheddington, near Leighton Buzzard (HP23)
Salary: £29,000 – £36,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Machine Driver to join a busy waste transfer site in Cheddington. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you will be working as part of an experienced and supportive team, operating a variety of plant machinery to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of waste.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced operator but also suits individuals looking to develop their plant skills within a stable, long-term position.
Working Hours
*Monday to Saturday working pattern
*1 in 3 Saturdays required
*Saturday shifts paid at time and a half
*Flexibility required to work shifts between:
*6:30am – 4:30pm
*7:00am – 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities
*Operating site plant and machinery, including:
*Excavators
*Material Handlers
*Telehandlers
*Loading, sorting, and moving waste safely and efficiently
*Supporting daily waste transfer site operations
*Assisting with vehicle tipping and site logistics
*Maintaining a safe, tidy, and organised working environment
*Delivering a high standard of customer service
Skills & Experience
Preferred:
*Experience operating excavators, material handlers, and telehandlers (8–16 tonne)
*Background within waste, recycling, or a similar environment
Essential:
*Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
*Strong health & safety awareness
*Reliable, hardworking, and a team player
Please note: Tickets are not essential as full training will be provided. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain BRITTOp certification covering all machinery.
