Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Supervisor to support day-to-day operations within a fast-paced logistics environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong planning skills, hands-on experience in transport operations, and a solid understanding of trailer management and utilisation.
You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement of goods, maintaining compliance, and supporting drivers and transport planners to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
*Supervise daily transport operations, ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed efficiently and on time
*Manage and coordinate trailer allocation, utilisation, and turnaround
*Liaise with drivers, planners, and warehouse teams to maintain smooth operational flow
*Monitor driver compliance, including tachograph regulations, working time directives, and health & safety standards
*Support route planning and problem-solving for delays, breakdowns, or operational challenges
*Conduct driver briefings and debriefings
*Maintain accurate records and transport documentation
*Ensure fleet and trailers are maintained, roadworthy, and compliant at all times
*Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Requirements
*Proven experience in a transport or logistics supervisory role
*Strong knowledge of trailer operations (e.g., curtain-siders, box trailers, or similar fleet types)
*Understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements
*Excellent communication and leadership skills
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
*Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
*IT literate, with experience using transport management systems (TMS)
Desirable
*CPC qualification (or working towards)
*Experience in high-volume, multi-drop or trunking operations
*Background in pallet networks or general haulage
