Job Description:
Full job descriptionAxon Moore are working with a fantastic business in the Rochdale area to appoint a Qualified Accountant. The business has grown to over £30m turnover and now has ambitious plans to grow to £100m over the next five years through a combination of organic growth and acquisition.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of the company’s day-to-day and monthly financial accounting activities and become one of the key finance contacts across the business. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the nominal ledger, producing accurate monthly financial information and supporting the business through an exciting period of transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
*Preparing monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
*Managing the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
*Maintaining the nominal ledger, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
*Managing VAT, payroll and HMRC submissions, ensuring ongoing compliance
*Maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
*Assisting with cash flow forecasting and treasury activities
*Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
*Supporting the statutory accounts preparation and acting as a key contact for external auditors
*Producing financial analysis to support business decision making
*Continuously improving financial controls, reporting processes and documentation
*Playing an active role in the implementation and development of Sage 50, whilst contributing towards the future ERP project.
Personal Attributes:
*3+ years’ experience producing monthly management accounts
*Qualifications such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA are desirable but not essential
*Previous manufacturing experience would be desirable but not essential
*Strong nominal ledger and month-end accounting experience
*Excellent Excel skills and experience using accounting systems, ideally Sage 50
*Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
*A proactive, practical approach to solving problems
*High attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
