About the RoleThis is a full-time position commencing this September, perfectly tailored for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science specialist. Key Skills*Advanced Subject Literacy: Extensive mastery of the UK National Curriculum for Science, spanning biology, chemistry, and physics.
*Proactive Behaviour Management: Ability to utilise positive reinforcement techniques to sustain an orderly, safe, and productive laboratory environment.
*Adaptive Teaching: Skill in modifying lesson delivery to support diverse learning requirements, stretching high-attainers while scaffolding for SEND and EAL pupils.
*Progress Tracking: Proficiency in reviewing student data to pinpoint specific scientific misconceptions and introduce effective interventions.
*Formative Feedback: Expertise in using live marking, targeted questioning, and verbal feedback to accelerate pupil development.
*Interpersonal Communication: Superb verbal and written communication skills to break down abstract concepts and effectively collaborate with students, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities*Plan, structure, and deliver high-calibre, stimulating Science lessons that stretch and support all learners.
*Evaluate, document, and report on the academic growth, attainment, and effort of assigned pupils.
*Establish elevated benchmarks for student behaviour, preserving a purposeful and safe practical learning dynamic.
*Partner with colleagues to refine and develop departmental schemes of learning and shared practical resources.
*Actively engage in parents’ consultation evenings, departmental briefings, and whole-school training sessions.
*Serve as a Form Tutor, delivering compassionate pastoral care and supporting the holistic well-being of students.
*Recognise students who are falling behind and implement swift interventions to maximise GCSE outcomes.
*Consistently champion all academy and Trust-wide policies, particularly regarding safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety (CLEAPSS) protocols.
*Provide regular, constructive marking in perfect alignment with the school’s assessment policy.
