About the RoleThis is a full-time, permanent Teacher of Religious Education position commencing in September. The successful candidate will join a vibrant Humanities department, delivering high-quality RE lessons that promote critical thinking, diversity, and moral development. The role involves guiding students across various age groups and abilities, ensuring they grasp the historical, cultural, and spiritual contexts of major world religions while preparing them effectively for their academic milestones.About the SchoolLocated in the Wakefield area, this secondary school caters to students aged 11-18. The institution is deeply committed to empowering every individual to become the best version of themselves as global citizens. Key Requirements*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
*Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
*Subject Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of current developments in the UK Religious Education curriculum.
*Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills*Pedagogical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning styles.
*Classroom Management: Excellent ability to maintain a purposeful, safe, and disciplined learning environment.
*Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to connect effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
*Curriculum Design: Skill in developing and adapting departmental resources to meet exam board specifications.
*Differentiated Instruction: Proficiency in tailoring lessons to support both high-achieving students and those with SEND needs.
*Digital Literacy: Strong ICT skills, including experience utilising digital teaching tools and modern e-learning platforms.
Responsibilities*Lesson Planning: Plan sequential, progressive, and challenging lessons that align with whole-school learning objectives.
*Academic Delivery: Teach Religious Education across the full age and ability range, including Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
*Student Assessment: Regularly mark student work and homework, providing constructive feedback in line with school policy.
*Progress Monitoring: Track, monitor, and record pupil achievement, using data to identify and support underachieving students.
*Behaviour Management: Consistently enforce the academy’s code of conduct, using appropriate rewards and sanctions.
*Learning Environment: Maintain an orderly classroom featuring up-to-date, engaging, and attractive educational displays.
*Pastoral Support: Undertake form tutor responsibilities, monitoring student attendance, punctuality, and overall well-being.
*Stakeholder Engagement: Complete detailed progress reports and actively participate in parent’s evenings and reviews.
*Departmental Support: Collaborate with the Head of Department to design, review, and enhance curriculum resources.
*Professional Development: Actively participate in staff meetings, multi-academy trust working parties, and continuous professional development (CPD).
