About the RoleThis is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and passionate professional to join a thriving secondary school as a full-time Religious Education (RE) Teacher. Starting in September 2026, this temporary-to-permanent position allows the successful candidate to seamlessly integrate into the school community with the long-term view of a permanent contract. The successful educator will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, critical thinking, and academic curiosity. This role sits within a highly collaborative and energetic Humanities and PER (Philosophy, Ethics, and Religion) faculty.

*Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
*Curriculum Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the UK National Curriculum for RE, including GCSE specifications.
*Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills*Subject Expertise: Deep, comprehensive knowledge of world religions, philosophy, and modern ethical frameworks.
*Classroom Management: Proven ability to maintain a positive, focused, and respectful learning environment.
*Differentiated Instruction: Skill in tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and academic abilities.
*Linguistic & Literacy Promotion: Strong capability to enhance students’ religious literacy and critical vocabulary.
*Formative & Summative Assessment: Proficiency in using data to evaluate progress and accurately inform future lesson planning.
*Interpersonal Communication: Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities*Lesson Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging RE lessons to students across various Key Stages.
*Progress Tracking: Regularly mark work, provide constructive feedback, and track individual student academic progress.
*Curriculum Development: Contribute to the creation, review, and enhancement of scheme-of-work resources within the department.
*Exam Preparation: Adequately prepare upper-school students for external examinations and GCSE assessments.
*Pastoral Support: Fulfill the duties of a Form Tutor, supporting student’s daily pastoral, moral, and emotional well-being.
*Safe Space Creation: Facilitate balanced discussions on sensitive cultural, moral, social, and spiritual topics.
*Parental Engagement: Attend parent’s evenings, open events, and write progress reports to keep families informed.
*Professional Development: Actively participate in staff meetings, departmental briefings, and continuous professional development (CPD) sessions.
*Policy Compliance: Consistently implement and enforce the school’s behaviour, safeguarding, and uniform policies.
*Cross-Curricular Support: Assist where necessary with wider school initiatives, including assemblies, charity events, or reflective school spaces.
