Interim Service Director – Environment
Are you an experienced and resilient leader with a passion for delivering high-quality public services and driving meaningful change?
We are seeking an Interim Service Director – Environment to lead a diverse portfolio of services including highways and infrastructure, waste, streetscene, regulation and enforcement, and emergency planning. This is a high-profile leadership role requiring a dynamic individual who can operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels.
You will provide visible leadership across large frontline service teams, build strong partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement to deliver excellent outcomes for local communities. Working as part of a collaborative senior leadership team, you will help shape and deliver ambitious environmental and place-based priorities.
The successful candidate will bring:
*Significant senior leadership experience across environmental, neighbourhood, public realm, highways, waste, or regulatory services.
*A proven track record of leading large, complex service areas through change and transformation.
*Strong stakeholder management and partnership-building skills.
*Commercial awareness, political sensitivity, and excellent communication skills.
*The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
