Job Description:
Full job descriptionJoin our Health and Wellbeing Directorate at the Safeguarding Provider Services, focusing on Children in Care and Care Leavers. We are seeking a dedicated Personal Advisor to work with young people aged 16-25 who are or have been looked after by a Local Authority. This role is crucial in assisting them to live an independent life within their community, promoting and safeguarding their welfare according to their plans and strategies.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
*Carry out responsibilities and duties for looked after children in line with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and 1989 Children Act, acting as an advocate for young people.
*Develop and maintain Pathway Plans, taking into account the views and wishes of young people, and maintain regular contact as required under the Children (Leaving Care) Act, 2000.
*Contribute to the delivery of a duty system within the service from Monday to Friday.
*Promote the involvement of young people in all aspects of service delivery and pathway planning.
*Engage with internal and external organisations to secure permanence in accommodation, education, employment, and health to enhance young people’s outcomes.
*Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring provision of written electronic records in line with the Council’s systems, policies, and procedures.
*Engage in regular team meetings and participate positively in supervision with the Senior Practitioner or Service Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Must be able to drive, have access to a vehicle for work, and have business insurance.
*Recent experience of working with young people preferably within a Post 16/leaving Care setting.
*NVQ Level 3 in a related subject such as Child Care or Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
*Experience in keeping accurate records, writing reports, and updating and reviewing care plans.
*Strong interpersonal skills to encourage and persuade others to engage with the Service and build constructive working relationships.
