Location: London (Hybrid - Flexible working, one day in the office)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

Butler Rose is working alongside our large, complex Business Services client who is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist/Payroll Team Leader to support compliant payroll operations, process improvement, and stakeholder management across a high-volume, multi-entity environment.
This is a hands-on permanent role suited to a commercially minded payroll professional who can manage accurate payroll delivery, identify process improvements, and work confidently with internal stakeholders, external providers, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities
* Support accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple entities and jurisdictions
* Review payroll data, outputs, reconciliations, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Ensure payroll processes align with UK legislation, tax requirements, and internal policies
* Manage payroll queries, escalations, and stakeholder requests efficiently
* Work closely with outsourced payroll providers and third-party partners, team management of one offshored team member.
* Use HRIS systems, including Dayforce, to support payroll workflows, reporting, and data integrity
* Maintain and improve payroll controls, documentation, and standard operating procedures
* Support audits, year-end activities, statutory reporting, and payroll governance requirements
* Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies
* Partner with HR, Finance, and wider business teams on payroll projects and system enhancements

Candidate Profile
* Strong payroll experience within a complex commercial environment
* Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation, compliance, and statutory requirements
* Experience managing outsourced payroll providers and stakeholder relationships
* Experience with Dayforce HRIS or similar payroll systems highly desirable
* International payroll exposure beneficial
* Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality
* Comfortable working independently and managing competing deadlines
* Process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
