Job Purpose
To provide practical, academic, and pastoral support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), enabling them to participate fully in school life and make progress towards their individual learning goals. Working under the guidance of teaching staff, the successful candidate will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel valued, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
Key Responsibilities*Work alongside teachers to support pupils with SEND both in and outside the classroom.
*Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions as directed by teaching staff.
*Help pupils understand instructions, complete learning activities, and remain engaged during lessons.
*Encourage the development of communication, social, emotional, and independence skills.
*Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote a calm and productive learning environment.
*Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other personalised support programmes.
*Observe pupils’ progress and share relevant information with teachers and the SENCO.
*Prepare classroom resources and assist with maintaining an organised, safe, and welcoming learning environment.
*Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, school trips, and extracurricular activities when required.
*Provide personal care and mobility support where necessary, following appropriate training and school procedures.
*Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
*Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous professional development opportunities.
