Full job description
Audit Responsible Individual (RI)
Witney / Hybrid
£85,000 - £125,000 DOE
Current RI status essential
UK accountancy practice experience required
No sponsorship available
This is a proper audit leadership opportunity.
Not "come in, inherit a mess, and quietly drown in review points" leadership.
Actual leadership.
A well-established independent accountancy firm in Witney is looking for an experienced Audit Responsible Individual (RI) to take ownership of an established audit portfolio as part of a planned leadership transition.
One of the firm’s existing Audit Directors is moving into a dedicated business development role, creating space for a senior audit professional to step into a key position with real influence over quality, people, systems and growth.
The role
You will be responsible for:
Taking ownership of a significant audit portfolio
Acting as the main relationship lead for audit clients
Driving audit quality, compliance and best practice
Improving audit systems, processes and methodologies
Mentoring, developing and strengthening the audit team
Working closely with the leadership team on audit strategy
Helping to grow the firm’s audit presence in the market
This is a role for someone who wants more than file reviews, deadlines and being dragged into technical queries when everyone else has gone quiet.
It would suit an experienced RI who enjoys the technical side of audit, but also wants a genuine voice in how an audit department is run, developed and grown.
What they need
You must already hold RI status at your current firm.
You will also need:
ACA or ACCA qualification
Significant UK accountancy practice audit experience
Strong experience managing audit portfolios
Experience leading and developing audit teams
Strong FRS 102 audit knowledge
A quality-focused, commercially minded approach
The opportunity
This is a chance to join an independent firm where you can have visible impact.
You will not just be another senior audit person in a huge structure.
You will be trusted to lead, improve, advise, develop and help shape the future of the audit function.
The package
Salary guide: £85,000 - £125,000 DOE
The firm is open-minded on salary for the right person and does not want to miss out on someone suitable because of a number on a job advert.
