Full job description12-month opportunity for an experienced Financial Services Legal Counsel to provide commercially focused legal advice across wealth management, retail investments and financial services regulation, supporting strategic business initiatives within a leading UK financial institution.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal professional to join a leading UK financial services organisation as a Managing Legal Counsel on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This senior role will support a well-established Wealth Management and Private Banking business during a period of strategic growth and transformation.
Working as part of a collaborative legal team, you will provide commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of wealth management, retail investment and financial services matters, partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver pragmatic legal solutions in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities*Provide commercial legal advice across wealth management, retail investment and financial services products and services.
*Advise on complex legal and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with applicable UK financial services regulation.
*Support strategic business initiatives, change programmes and integration projects.
*Partner closely with senior leaders, Risk, Compliance and Governance functions to manage legal and regulatory risk.
*Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial and financial services documentation.
*Identify legal, regulatory and reputational risks and provide practical solutions to support business objectives.
*Drive continuous improvement of legal processes and contribute to operational efficiencies within the legal function.
*Build strong relationships across the business, acting as a trusted legal adviser to senior stakeholders.
About YouWe are seeking an experienced financial services lawyer with strong commercial judgement and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
You will ideally have:
*Qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience.
*Strong in-house or private practice experience advising financial services clients.
*Expertise in one or more of the following areas:*Wealth Management
*Asset Management
*Funds
*Retail Investments
*Financial Services Regulation

*Excellent knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape, including areas such as FCA regulation, MiFID II, Consumer Duty, AIFMD, UCITS, PRIIPs and related financial services legislation.
*Experience partnering with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
*Strong commercial drafting, negotiation and advisory skills.
*The ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide pragmatic, business-focused advice.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
