Job Description - Engineering Supervisor / Senior Maintenance EngineerLocation: Greater Manchester
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Hours: 50 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 5 x 10-hour shifts
Reporting To: Engineering Manager

The RoleWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on engineering professional to support the Engineering Manager in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant and production equipment.
Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in reducing downtime, driving preventative maintenance activities, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring engineering standards are maintained across the site.
Key Responsibilities*Support the Engineering Manager in the day-to-day running of the engineering and maintenance function.
*Ensure all plant machinery and equipment are maintained to maximise uptime and operational efficiency.
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
*Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults effectively.
*Lead and support engineering projects, installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
*Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across the site.
*Ensure compliance with company policies, engineering standards, and statutory regulations.
*Assist with contractor management and supervision of engineering activities.
*Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
*Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation.
*Work closely with production and operational teams to minimise disruption and improve plant performance.
*Support training, mentoring, and development of engineering team members where required.
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential*Proven engineering experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.
*Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
*Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance systems.
*Sound understanding of health and safety legislation and engineering best practices.
*Ability to work independently and make effective decisions under pressure.
*Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
*Strong problem-solving ability and a continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable*Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
*Experience within polymer, rubber, plastics, chemical, automotive, or other process manufacturing environments.
*Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
*Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
