Full job descriptionTechnical Project Manager – Live Event Production
Location: Borehamwood - Hertfordshire (25 mins from Central London)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)
Working Pattern: Flexible – aligned to live event schedules
The Role
This isn’t a coordination role — it’s about technical ownership.
We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager from a live events background who is confident taking projects from initial brief through to live show delivery, and who’s just as comfortable specifying a system as they are leading a crew onsite.
You’ll sit at the centre of each project — bridging client, creative, and technical teams — and making sure everything lands on time, on spec, and on show day without compromise.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Taking full ownership of end-to-end live event delivery
*Acting as the technical lead onsite across lighting, audio, and video
*Translating creative briefs into practical, buildable technical solutions
*Designing systems and specifying exact equipment (brands/models)
*Producing quotes, budgets, technical drawings, and documentation
*Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary technical teams
*Managing logistics, schedules, and resources across multiple projects
*Troubleshooting live issues in real time — staying calm under pressure
*Building strong, trusted relationships with clients
What We’re Looking For
You’re likely already working in live events and want a role where you can step up and take full technical control, not just manage timelines.
You’ll need:
*Solid experience in live event production
*Strong expertise in at least one discipline (lighting, audio, or video) with confidence across all three
*Proven ability to design and deliver technical solutions end-to-end
*Experience leading teams and running projects onsite
*Confidence producing technical drawings, specs, and H&S documentation
*Strong commercial awareness — comfortable with budgets and quoting
*A hands-on mindset — willing to get involved when it counts
*Excellent client-facing communication skills
Bonus if you have:
*AutoCAD and/or rental/asset system experience
*UK driving licence
You’ll Fit This Role If You
*Prefer being close to the delivery, not just managing from behind a desk
*Enjoy solving real-world technical problems under pressure
*Can confidently walk onto site and be seen as the technical authority
*Thrive in fast-moving environments where no two shows are the same
*Balance creative thinking with practical execution
*Lead by example and bring teams with you
Why Join
*Work on high-quality, technically engaging productions
*Be part of a team that values multi-skilled technical leaders
*Real ownership — no siloed roles
*Opportunity to grow into senior technical leadership
What’s On Offer
Salary & Benefits
*£50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)
*Pension scheme + long service recognition
Health & Wellbeing
*Private healthcare and dental cover
*Enhanced sick pay
*Time-back policy after long/weekend event days
Culture
*Supportive, collaborative technical team
*Regular socials and company events
*Daily perks in the office
Development
*Access to high-spec kit and technology
*Ongoing training and progression opportunities
The Reality of the Role
This is for someone who enjoys owning projects, leading from the front, and delivering under live event pressure — not someone who wants a purely desk-based PM role.
