About the Role
Robert Half are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team of a growing and creative media company based in the Manchester area.
This is a varied and hands-on opportunity suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Working closely with senior finance colleagues, you will support the day-to-day finance function, assisting with month-end processes, financial reporting and transactional accounting while gaining exposure across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end close
*Post journals, accruals and prepayments, and complete balance sheet reconciliations
*Maintain the purchase and sales ledgers, including supplier and customer reconciliations
*Process payment runs and monitor cash flow
*Assist with credit control and resolve invoice queries
*Support payroll preparation by liaising with the outsourced payroll provider
*Assist with VAT returns and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date
*Support budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis
*Work closely with senior finance colleagues to support reporting, financial controls and process improvements
About You
*Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
*Studying towards ACCA/CIMA
*Good understanding of month-end accounting processes and double-entry bookkeeping
*Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*Proactive, reliable and able to manage changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
*Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business
