This rewarding Teaching Assistant opportunity in Aston starts September 2026 and offers you the chance to support students with complex SEND at a specialist post-16 college. You’ll play a pivotal role in helping learners develop independence, communication, and essential life skills in preparation for adulthood.

Hours:
Monday – Thursday | 8:45am – 3:00pm
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to ensure every student can access learning in a safe, inclusive, and supportive setting. You’ll be hands-on throughout the college day, championing each learner’s progress and well-being.
Responsibilities*Support students with complex learning needs throughout the college day
*Assist with personal care, toileting, changing, and hygiene with dignity and respect
*Help students with mobility, positioning, and moving and handling following care plans
*Work alongside teachers, therapists, and professionals to support learning programmes
*Encourage communication, independence, and social development using personalised approaches, including AAC where appropriate
*Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Skills and Experience*Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
*Extensive experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs
*Experience providing personal care in an education or care setting
*Confident supporting students with physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs
*Caring, patient, and flexible approach
*Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
*Available to start in September 2026 and commit to a long-term role

*Salary: £14.61 per hour
