Full job descriptionAmbition is delighted to be partnered with an exceptional global law firm in their search for a Revenue Manager to join their London office. This role heads up a team of 10 Revenue controllers and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Revenue Manager looking for a new role.
What you’ll be doing
*Leading and overseeing the day-to-day activities of a team of around 10 revenue controllers, including monitoring bill preparation volumes, reviewing invoice quality, managing the timeliness of billing, and ensuring active engagement with clients, Partners and fee earners to support the recovery of aged debt.
*Providing timely and accurate reporting to help reduce lock-up and fostering clear, regular communication between your team and the Partners they support.
*Maintaining operational continuity for the region, stepping in to assist with billing and collections activity when needed and ensuring appropriate cover is in place during periods of absence.
*Monitoring bill processing on an ongoing basis, following up on outstanding items to support successful processing and prompt payment.
*Reviewing and maintaining client billing arrangements and related data within the firm’s matter management systems.
*Proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen billing and collections processes and supporting the rollout of best practice across the team.
*Working closely with Partners on the preparation, review and submission of bills, providing analytical support and regular management reporting.
*Preparing internal billing and collections projections and carrying out the initial review of monthly unbilled time and accounts receivable priority reports.
*Keeping current with VAT regulations and working in collaboration with local finance and accounting teams to ensure compliance.
*Supporting the onboarding of new clients and managing ongoing client communications across a range of topics.
*Keeping Partners informed on the status of outstanding debt recovery, coordinating agreed next steps, and processing debt write-offs where necessary with appropriate authorisation.
*Onboarding and training new team members, delivering ongoing development activity, and conducting annual performance reviews to maintain high-quality service delivery.
*Travelling to regional offices across Europe as business needs require, building strong working relationships with Partners, senior lawyers, finance colleagues and professional staff across the region and globally.
*Contributing to ad-hoc project work, including revenue system upgrades and improvement initiatives.
What we’re looking for
*Proven revenue experience in a Law firm environment, with at least five years in a relevant role and a minimum of two years’ experience managing or supervising others.
*Well-developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
*A confident communicator and active listener who remains calm under pressure and takes a solutions-focused, proactive approach to challenges.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear documents and carry out analytical work to a high standard.
*A credible and approachable people leader with a hands-on style and a track record of mentoring, developing and motivating team members.
*Confident across Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
*Excellent written and spoken English.
*Experience of identifying and implementing procedural or operational improvements within a revenue function.
