We are working with a prestigious London-based NHS Trust to recruit an experienced Senior M&E Technician to support the delivery of critical Estates and Facilities services across a complex healthcare estate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Mechanical & Electrical professional to play a key role in maintaining essential engineering infrastructure that directly supports patient care, staff wellbeing, and clinical operations.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, supervisory support, and compliance oversight across a diverse range of building services systems, ensuring the Trust’s estate remains safe, compliant, and operational at all times.


The Opportunity
The Senior M&E Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and performance of critical mechanical and electrical services throughout the Trust.
You will supervise contractors and in-house engineering teams, manage planned and reactive maintenance activities, and ensure full compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements across the estate.
This role offers significant exposure to specialist healthcare engineering systems and provides the opportunity to contribute to service improvements, asset reliability, and operational resilience within a highly respected NHS organisation.


Key Responsibilities
*Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a wide range of M&E systems.
*Provide technical expertise in fault finding, diagnosis, repair, and system optimisation.
*Oversee specialist contractors and engineering staff, ensuring safe and effective service delivery.
*Manage and coordinate maintenance activities through CAFM and estate management systems.
*Undertake risk assessments and ensure adherence to Trust Permit-to-Work procedures.
*Support statutory inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring activities.
*Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
*Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies and asset improvement plans.
*Support emergency response activities and participate in the on-call rota.
*Liaise effectively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to minimise disruption to healthcare services.


Technical Systems & Plant
The successful candidate will have experience working across a broad range of building services systems, including:
*HVAC systems
*Air Handling Units (AHUs)
*Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
*Building Management Systems (BMS)
*Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems
*Medical Gas systems
*Hot and Cold Water systems
*Pressure Systems
*Air Conditioning and Chiller Plant
*Lighting and Emergency Lighting
*Water Treatment Systems
Experience working with specialist healthcare infrastructure such as steam systems, autoclaves, sterilisers, vacuum systems, and healthcare ventilation would be highly advantageous.


About You
We are seeking a proactive and solutions-focused M&E professional who can operate confidently within a complex and highly regulated healthcare environment.
You will possess:
*Minimum 10 years’ experience within Mechanical & Electrical building services.
*Strong working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems.
*Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
*Experience supervising engineering teams and specialist contractors.
*Knowledge of statutory compliance and healthcare engineering standards.
*Experience working within large, complex estates environments.
*Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
*A commitment to safe systems of work and continuous service improvement.
*Experience undertaking Authorised Person or Responsible Person duties would be highly desirable.
