Full job descriptionA new opportunity has arisen to join a long-established and highly respected Cumbrian business as an Assistant Accountant. This position has become available due to the retirement of a longstanding member of the finance team, reflecting the stability and supportive culture within the organisation.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you’ll become part of a friendly, collaborative finance team of 5, where you’ll enjoy a varied role and the opportunity to develop your accounting knowledge across multiple areas of the finance function.

The RoleYou’ll support the day-to-day running of the finance department, with responsibilities including:
*Purchase, sales and general ledger activities
*Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
*Journal postings, accruals and prepayments
*Supporting month-end processes
*Maintaining accounting records and operational spreadsheets
*Investigating supplier queries and liaising with internal departments
*Assisting with financial reporting and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained.
About YouYou’ll ideally have:
*3+ years experience within a finance or accounts role
*AAT qualification desirable
*Experience using Sage 200 or similar accounting software
*Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
*A proactive approach with the ability to manage a varied workload
*Excellent communication and organisational skills
