Job Description:
Full job descriptionZest Education is recruiting a patient, dedicated and proactive 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3/4 pupil at a primary school in Swadlincote. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, starting September and continuing until the end of the academic year.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive within a supportive KS2 environment.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
*Provide tailored support to a Y3/4 pupil with additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs
*Help the child engage positively with lessons, routines and activities
*Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to follow support plans
*Encourage independence, confidence and resilience
*Build a trusting, consistent relationship with the pupil
*Contribute to a calm, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
A Teaching Assistant who:
*Has experience supporting children with additional needs (school-based or transferable)
*Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
*Can follow support plans and adapt to the child’s needs
*Uses positive behaviour management strategies
*Is reliable, patient and proactive
*Brings warmth, consistency and a child-centred approach

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
