Full job descriptionI am working with a well-established international consumer business that is looking to appoint a Senior Management Accountant on a 12-14 month fixed-term contract.
This is a genuinely broad role offering considerably more than the production of monthly management accounts. You will take ownership of the accounting and reporting for several UK entities while also overseeing the financial performance of an important commercial channel across the wider European business.
The position combines month-end reporting, financial control, statutory accounting and commercial analysis. You will work closely with colleagues across FP&A, sales, customer operations and credit, giving you strong visibility across both finance and the wider organisation.
The business offers a highly flexible working arrangement, with limited travel into its London office, alongside a generous holiday allowance, bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits package.
The RoleReporting into an experienced Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
*Taking ownership of the general ledger and financial reporting for designated UK entities.
*Producing accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts.
*Managing key elements of the period-end close process.
*Leading the completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
*Preparing audit schedules and supporting the delivery of annual statutory accounts.
*Ensuring compliance with internal controls, group accounting policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
*Overseeing the accounting for a major commercial channel across several European markets.
*Working with FP&A to understand budgets and forecasts and explain performance against expectations.
*Reviewing revenue, margin and associated provisions.
*Maintaining schedules covering areas such as customer returns, discounts, rebates, commissions, bad debts and deferred revenue.
*Providing analysis and commentary to help senior stakeholders understand business performance.
*Monitoring regional corporate expenditure, purchase orders and accruals.
*Supporting lease accounting and other technically focused areas.
*Working with operational and finance teams to calculate freight and distribution provisions.
*Supporting wider finance projects and providing guidance to junior team members.
The CandidateThis opportunity would suit a technically strong, commercially aware accountant who is comfortable taking ownership within a complex international organisation.
You are likely to have:
*A full ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification.
*Strong experience producing management accounts and managing month-end close activities.
*Experience working within a multi-entity, multicurrency or international business.
*A sound understanding of balance sheet control, statutory reporting and external audit requirements.
*Previous exposure to US GAAP, SOX controls or a US-headquartered organisation.
*Experience within consumer products, wholesale, retail, ecommerce, distribution or a similarly fast-moving environment.
*Advanced Excel skills and experience using a large ERP system.
*The ability to interpret financial results and communicate the key messages clearly.
*A collaborative approach and confidence partnering with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Experience with lease accounting and enterprise systems such as Oracle or similar platforms would be advantageous, although it is not essential to have every listed requirement.
Why Consider This Opportunity?Alongside the breadth of the role, the successful candidate will join a supportive and well-established international finance team.
The opportunity offers:
*A salary of £65,000 to £72,000.
*Performance-related bonus.
*Highly flexible hybrid working, with limited London office attendance.
*Generous annual leave.
*A comprehensive benefits package.
*Strong exposure across a European finance function.
*The opportunity to work closely with commercial and operational stakeholders.
*A friendly, inclusive and collaborative working environment.
This could be particularly attractive to a qualified accountant looking for a substantive fixed-term assignment where they can take genuine ownership, rather than simply provide additional month-end support.
