We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a growing Housing Association and support the smooth running of the finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will oversee day-to-day transactional finance activities including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and rent accounting, whilst supervising Finance Assistants and ensuring key financial deadlines are met. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional looking to combine operational processing with team leadership in a values-driven organisation.
Senior Finance Officer General Responsibilities:
*Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Rent Ledger activities across the organisation.
*Lead on bank reconciliations, monthly cashbooks and nominal ledger maintenance.
*Oversee sales ledger and purchase ledger processing, including payment runs and query resolution.
*Supervise rent collection activities and ensure accurate and timely reconciliations.
*Support the maintenance of the fixed asset register and wider finance operations.
*Provide day-to-day leadership, target setting and support to Finance Assistants.
*Assist with Board papers, financial controls and compliance with financial regulations.
*Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and support the continued development of the finance function.
Senior Finance Officer Ideal Candidate:
*Qualified by experience or part-qualified accountant.
*Previous experience working within a busy finance or accounting environment.
*Strong bank reconciliation, cashbook and ledger management experience.
*Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a finance function.
*Experience using accounting systems and finance software.
*Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
*Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
*Social Housing experience would be advantageous.
