Full job descriptionAs a Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for reviewing and strengthening Health & Safety and broader compliance across the organisation including all operational departments, ensuring adherence to UK Health & Safety legislation.

A growing manufacturing business operating in the Healthcare sector, based out of St Albans.
Description
The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for working in a hands-on capacity, conducting audits, identifying compliance gaps, implementing effective solutions, and driving continuous improvement to maintain regulatory compliance and inspection readiness. You will:
*Establish effective and sustainable frameworks and processes to support departmental Health & Safety representatives in embedding and maintaining high Health & Safety standards across the organisation.
*Take ownership of achieving compliance with UK HSE regulations within the 3-month contract period
*Lead all activities required to bring the organisation to inspection-ready status
*Ensure compliance gaps are resolved and improvements embedded
*Conduct detailed audits across laboratories, production, warehouse, office and all other facilities
*Review and ensure adequacy of: Health & Safety Policies, SOPs, Risk Assessments, COSHH documentation,
*Identify and prioritise compliance risks and gaps
*Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address, implement, and close identified gaps in line with HSE requirements.
*Update, standardise, and embed compliant processes and documentation
*Ensure solutions are practical and sustainable beyond the contract
*Review and strengthen training systems and records
*Deliver or support: Health & Safety Awareness Training, Workplace Safety & Controls, Ensure compliance with PPE, signage, fire safety, and first aid requirements
*Verify implementation and effectiveness of all safety controls
*Ensure COSHH and GMP-compliant handling of chemicals and materials
*Improve housekeeping and facility standards
*Strengthen waste management compliance
*Review incident reporting and investigation processes
*Implement robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
*Strengthen risk management systems
*Support H&S Representative and HSE Committee (if applicable)
*Provide regular progress updates to leadership
*Track and report audit findings and actions through to completion
*Ensure full compliance and adherence with all company policies, procedures, guidelines and SOP’s.
*Undertake other duties that are commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the role.
Profile
The interim Health & Safety Advisor should have:
*Relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent)
*Proven experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, or Audit roles
*Strong knowledge of COSHH, and regulatory frameworks
*Experience delivering rapid compliance improvements in GMP facilities
*Background in regulated environments (pharmaceutical/laboratory preferred)
*Strong delivery and implementation focus
*Ability to work independently and drive outcomes quickly
*Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
*Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
*Highly organised and results-driven
*Available immediately or on short notice
Job Offer
*A salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000 per annum.
*Site based role in St Albans, Immediate Start
*3 month contract initially with potential for extension
