Location: Hybrid Working
Contract: Interim / Temporary Assignment
Rate: Competitive Daily Rate
Reed Business Support are recruiting for an experienced Interim Estates Surveyor to support the management of a diverse commercial and operational property portfolio. This role will play a key part in reducing a backlog of lease renewals, rent reviews and landlord and tenant matters, whilst supporting a range of wider estate management and property transaction activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified property professional who can quickly pick up a varied caseload and deliver results within a public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead on the progression and completion of lease renewals, rent reviews and related landlord and tenant matters.
• Manage a varied portfolio of commercial properties including industrial units, offices, retail premises, cafés and investment assets.
• Negotiate lease events, new lettings, licences and other property agreements to achieve best value and protect organisational interests.
• Undertake valuations, rental assessments and market appraisals.
• Support acquisitions, disposals, land transfers and small land sales.
• Resolve historic property issues, including undocumented interests, informal occupation arrangements and data discrepancies.
• Progress routine surveying matters such as easements, wayleaves and open space adoptions.
• Instruct and manage external surveyors, agents, legal representatives and other professional advisers.
• Maintain and improve property and leasehold records, supporting asset data quality initiatives.
• Prepare reports, business cases, briefing papers and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Provide professional property advice to internal departments, elected representatives and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in estates management and commercial property surveying.
• Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation and practice.
• Experience managing lease renewals, rent reviews and property transactions.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience preparing professional reports and recommendations.
• The ability to manage a varied workload and deliver outcomes within agreed timescales.
• Strong commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Desirable
• MRICS qualification or working towards chartered status.
• Experience within local government, public sector estates or a similarly complex property environment.
• Knowledge of acquisitions, disposals and asset management processes.
