We are currently recruiting experienced School Chefs with a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate (on the Update Service) to work across a range of education settings in Grays and Thurrock.
This is an excellent opportunity for reliable and passionate chefs looking for flexible work in schools and other DBS-regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
*Prepare, cook, and present fresh, nutritious, high-quality meals.
*Cater for a variety of dietary requirements, allergies, and special diets.
*Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
*Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen.
*Monitor food stock, storage, and minimise waste.
*Work effectively both independently and as part of a kitchen team.
*Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional standards within education settings.
Essential Requirements
*Previous experience working as a chef in schools, colleges, universities, or other DBS-regulated environments.
*Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service.
*Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
*Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
*Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
*Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to different kitchen environments.
Desirable Skills
*Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
*Experience in education or contract catering.
*Knowledge of School Food Standards and nutritional guidelines.
*Experience preparing meals for large numbers of people.
