*Pay Rate: £16.62 per hour
*Location: Rochdale Council, Rochdale, OL16 1XU
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months)
Rochdale Council are looking for a motivated Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our dedicated Homelessness & Prevention Service. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work at the forefront of homelessness prevention, supporting residents facing housing crises and helping them secure positive outcomes.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage your own caseload and undertake homelessness assessments.
*Develop Personalised Housing Plans and work closely with partners across housing, health, social care, and the voluntary sector.
*Address a diverse range of customer needs, including young people, families, survivors of domestic abuse, people leaving institutions, and those with complex support needs.
*Offer comprehensive advice covering a range of housing options and assist in housing issues including landlord/tenant disputes and finding private rented accommodation.
*Determine if customers are threatened with homelessness and take reasonable steps to secure that accommodation does not cease to be available for their occupation.
*Investigate homelessness situations, making enquiries to satisfy whether a person is threatened with homelessness, their eligibility for assistance, and determine which duty is owed to them.
*Make placements into interim accommodation pending inquiries or reviews and assist with rehousing into suitable accommodation.
*Prepare reports for and attend multi-agency meetings in connection with homelessness and the safety of children and vulnerable adults.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in homelessness prevention and housing casework.
*Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
*Strong assessment, decision-making, and case management skills.
*A customer-focused, solution-driven approach.
*Ability to build effective relationships with customers and partner agencies.
*Valid Basic DBS, UK Driving licence, and access to a vehicle.
