Full job descriptionWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Cardiac Scrub Practitioner to join a highly skilled theatre team on a temporary agency basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy cardiac theatre environment, supporting a range of complex cardiothoracic procedures while delivering exceptional patient care.

The RoleAs a Cardiac Scrub Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting the multidisciplinary theatre team by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety throughout each procedure.
Key Responsibilities*Scrub for a wide range of adult cardiac surgical procedures.
*Prepare and maintain sterile instruments and equipment.
*Assist surgeons throughout complex cardiothoracic operations.
*Ensure compliance with infection prevention and theatre protocols.
*Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs, perfusionists and theatre staff.
*Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
*Support safe and effective patient care before, during and after surgery.
Requirements*Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
*Previous experience working as a Cardiac Scrub Practitioner.
*Competent in adult cardiac surgical procedures.
*Excellent understanding of aseptic technique and theatre safety.
*Strong communication and teamwork skills.
*Right to work in the UK.
*Up-to-date mandatory training and compliance documents.
Desirable Experience*CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
*Valve replacement and repair procedures
*Aortic surgery
*Minimally invasive cardiac surgery
*TAVI procedures
*Experience working within specialist cardiothoracic centres
