A London Arts organisation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant, or someone qualified by experience, looking to broaden their management accounting expertise within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Management Accountant, the Assistant Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting across the organisation. Working closely with finance colleagues and operational stakeholders, you will provide timely financial information, assist with month-end activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.
This role offers excellent exposure to management accounting, financial analysis and business partnering, making it ideal for someone looking to develop their career in finance.
Key Responsibilities:
*Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
*Monitor departmental budgets and investigate variances against budget and forecast, providing meaningful analysis and commentary.
*Assist with budgeting, forecasting and maintaining project budgets, ensuring financial information remains accurate and up to date.
*Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and deferred income.
*Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with the preparation of year-end audit information.
*Support the calculation and reconciliation of royalty or revenue-share payments where applicable.
*Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and tax-related reporting.
*Produce financial analysis and reporting to support operational decision-making.
*Contribute to finance system enhancements, reporting improvements and wider process improvement initiatives.
*Act as a key user for finance systems, providing guidance and support to colleagues where required.
*Support and provide day-to-day guidance to junior members of the finance team.
About You:
Essential
*Previous experience working within a finance or management accounting environment.
*Experience supporting the production of management accounts, including journals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manipulate, analyse and present financial data.
*Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
*Excellent communication skills with the confidence to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
*A proactive and collaborative approach with strong problem-solving skills.
Desirable
*Studying towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by experience.
*Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
*Experience using financial reporting tools and ERP finance systems.
*Previous experience supervising or supporting junior finance team members.
