Associate - Investment Banking (M&A, Consumer & Retail)

About the Role

We are working with a leading global investment bank that is looking to add a Junior Associate to its highly regarded Consumer & Retail Investment Banking team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading M&A advisory platform and work on high-profile transactions across a broad range of consumer and retail subsectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the execution of mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory assignments, and capital raising transactions for both public and private clients. You will work closely with senior bankers and gain significant exposure to clients, transaction processes, and financial analysis in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

*Support the execution of M&A transactions and strategic advisory mandates.
*Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials.
*Prepare client presentations, pitch books, information memoranda, and board materials.
*Conduct industry, company, and market research across the consumer and retail landscape.
*Assist with due diligence processes and the coordination of transaction workstreams.
*Analyse financial statements and business performance to support strategic recommendations.
*Collaborate with internal product teams and sector specialists on live transactions and pitches.
*Manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.


Requirements

*3-5 years of investment banking, corporate finance, or relevant M&A experience.
*Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
*Solid understanding of M&A transaction processes and execution.
*Experience preparing client-facing materials and presentation documents.
*Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
*Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
*Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic achievement.


Preferred Background

*Previous experience covering Consumer, Retail, Leisure, E-commerce, or related sectors would be advantageous.
*Exposure to cross-border transactions and complex strategic advisory assignments.
*Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
