Location: Felixstowe (Hybrid - 3 days office, 2 days home)
Contract: Temporary, 3 months
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00-16:30 or 09:00-17:30)
Pay: Up to £16.41 per hour, depending on experience
Reporting to: Finance Manager
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a 3-month temporary basis. Responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll across two entities, you will ensure payroll is delivered accurately, on time, and in line with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for two entities.
*Process starters, leavers and payroll changes.
*Support BACS payments and payroll approvals.
*Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
*Respond to payroll and pension queries from employees.
*Complete payroll reconciliations and support audit requirements.
*Process annual pension updates, NHS Pension year-end activities and P11Ds.
*Verify mileage claims and maintain fleet records.
*Assist with payroll journals and month-end reporting.
*Identify and implement payroll process improvements.
About You
Essential
*Previous Payroll Officer experience.
*End-to-end payroll processing experience.
*Knowledge of auto-enrolment pensions, SSP, SMP, RTI and payroll legislation.
*Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
*Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload.
*Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
*Experience with IRIS, MoorePay, Sage Payroll or HMRC Basic PAYE Tools.
*Previous NHS Pension experience.
*Experience improving payroll processes and procedures.
