Full job descriptionHarper May is working with a London-based technology company backed by experienced founders and early-stage investors. The business has built a strong product-market fit and is now moving through a period of operational maturation, with growing headcount and increasing complexity across finance operations. As the team scales, they need to embed stronger financial disciplines and reporting infrastructure. They are now seeking a Financial Controller to lead this charge.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will own the financial control framework, statutory reporting, and finance operations. You will build and maintain the processes that keep the business accountable, bring order to a growing finance function, and translate numbers into the insight that drives commercial decisions.
*Design and execute a robust month-end close schedule, producing accurate management accounts on time
*Build and oversee financial controls, including reconciliations, journals, and balance sheet integrity
*Lead budget and forecast cycles, engaging with operational leaders to create meaningful planning
*Take ownership of cash flow analysis, working capital management, and liquidity planning
*Manage the audit relationship, statutory filing requirements, and compliance obligations
*Develop finance reporting that supports strategy and operational decision-making
*Coach and support junior finance team members as they join
What we are looking for

*ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
*Proven experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent role in a technology, SaaS, or other high-growth business
*Solid grounding in technical accounting, consolidation, and revenue recognition
*Ability to lead a month-end and year-end process with confidence and rigour
*Clear communicator who can translate complexity into straightforward insight for non-finance leaders
*Pragmatic and process-minded, comfortable solving problems as priorities shift
