We’re recruiting a Senior Residential Care Worker to join a specialist therapeutic children’s home in South Staffordshire, supporting children aged 5 to 12 years. This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands on care with leadership, helping children who have experienced trauma and placement instability prepare for successful, long term foster family placements through an innovative Prep4Fostering model.

About the roleAs a Senior Residential Care Worker, you’ll be a key leader within the home, leading shifts, supporting colleagues and ensuring every child receives outstanding, child centred care in a safe, nurturing and structured environment.
You’ll play an important part in helping children develop resilience, confidence and the emotional security they need to move into stable family placements.
What you’ll be doingYou’ll lead by example, ensuring high standards of care while supporting and developing the wider team.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Leading shifts and coordinating the day to day running of the home.
*Supporting, supervising and mentoring Residential Care Workers.
*Acting as the senior on shift in the absence of the Home Manager or Deputy Manager.
*Building positive, trusting relationships with children that promote emotional wellbeing and healthy attachment.
*Implementing and overseeing individual care plans, behaviour support strategies and risk assessments.
*Supporting children with education, routines, activities and life skills.
*Working closely with psychologists, therapists, social workers and education professionals.
*Contributing to care planning meetings, reviews and transition planning.
*Supporting children as they prepare for successful foster family placements.
*Maintaining accurate records and ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything you do.
*Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and therapeutic home environment.
*Supporting the induction and development of new team members.
What we’re looking forWe’re looking for an experienced residential childcare professional with strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for improving children’s lives.
You’ll have:
*Experience working within a children’s residential home, residential childcare, children’s services, or a similar setting.
*A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
*Previous experience leading shifts or supervising staff.
*A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and children’s legislation.
*Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural or trauma related needs.
*Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
*The ability to remain calm, resilient and consistent in challenging situations.
*Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep ins.
Experience of trauma informed practice, therapeutic care, attachment informed approaches, or working alongside multidisciplinary professionals would be highly advantageous.
