We’re recruiting for a Residential Care Worker to join a specialist therapeutic children’s home in South Staffordshire, supporting children aged 5 to 12 years. This is far more than a care role. You’ll become part of a dedicated team helping children who have experienced trauma, loss, or placement breakdowns prepare for successful, long term foster family placements through an innovative Prep4Fostering model.

What you’ll be doingAs a Residential Care Worker, you’ll provide high quality, therapeutic, child centred care within a safe, nurturing home where children feel valued, supported and understood.
You’ll:
*Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
*Support children with daily routines, education, homework and recreational activities.
*Encourage independence, confidence and positive social skills.
*Follow individual care plans and contribute to children’s progress and development.
*Work alongside psychologists, therapists, social workers and education professionals.
*Support children as they prepare to move into stable foster family placements.
*Safeguard children and promote their welfare at all times.
*Keep accurate records and contribute to care planning and review meetings.
*Help create a warm, welcoming and homely environment where children can flourish.
What we’re looking forWe’re looking for compassionate, resilient people who genuinely want to improve children’s lives.
You’ll ideally have:
*Experience working with children or young people in a children’s residential home, residential childcare, supported living, fostering, education, mental health, social care, or similar environment.
*A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
*The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
*Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep ins.
It would be great if you also have:*Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
*Experience supporting children affected by trauma or attachment difficulties.
*Knowledge of trauma informed or therapeutic care approaches.
