Full job descriptionAccounts AssistantJoin a growing organisation as an Accounts Assistant, where you’ll play an important role in delivering accurate and timely financial transactions across a portfolio of clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transactional finance professional looking to develop their skills within a varied role, working across multiple aspects of finance in a collaborative team environment.
About the RoleAs an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for completing a range of financial transactions for a defined portfolio of clients, ensuring all work is processed accurately and within agreed timescales. You’ll support key finance functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll preparation, VAT and month-end activities, while maintaining excellent communication with clients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities*Process financial transactions accurately and efficiently across a portfolio of clients.
*Prepare VAT returns.
*Assist with payroll preparation.
*Process purchase ledger transactions.
*Prepare and issue unpaid bills reports.
*Prepare weekly payment runs.
*Support sales ledger and credit control activities.
*Complete bank and weekly bank reconciliations.
*Perform month-end reconciliations and adjustments.
*Manage the client inbox, responding to, actioning and filing emails in a timely manner.
*Maintain and update client "How To" documents.
*Participate in the team phone rota.
Key Requirements*Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant OR transactional finance role, OR recent Graduate.
*Good literacy and numeracy skills (equivalent to GCSE Grade 5 or above in English and Maths).
*Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
*AAT, CIMA or ACCA trainee, or qualified by experience.
*Experience using accounting software, preferably QuickBooks, Xero or Sage.
*Experience using Microsoft Excel within a finance environment.
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
*Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
*Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
*Reliable, proactive and supportive team player with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
