Are you a highly organised, detail-focused production professional with a passion for great children’s books? We’re seeking a Freelance Senior/Production Controller to join a lovely children’s publisher and support the production team across the full children’s list on a short-term contract starting in August.
You’ll take responsibility for titles across the production pipeline, supporting delivery through frontlist, backlist, and co-editions/competitions, ensuring timely commercial delivery of a range of award-winning titles—all while maintaining the highest production standards.
*Managing production schedules and title progress across frontlist and backlist
*Overseeing delivery for a range of formats and projects, including co-editions
*Supporting coordination of titles through testing stages and production checkpoints
*Ensuring quality and standards are maintained throughout the production process
*Liaising with internal teams and global suppliers to keep delivery on track
*Strong physical book production experience
*A great eye for detail and exceptional organisation
*Creative, proactive mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
*Experience and/or working knowledge of safety testing and processes is desirable
*Some knowledge of colour pre-press would be a plus
*Experience related to co-editions and/or CO production is beneficial
*Safety testing experience is not essential—we’re open to the right person with strong production fundamentals
