Planet Recruitment are delighted to be working with an innovative and well-established engineering manufacturer based in West Oxfordshire who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing products, playing a key role in research and development projects while helping to reduce product development timescales.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
*Designing and developing new mechanical products and improving existing designs.
*Building and testing prototypes throughout the development process.
*Recording and analysing test results, providing recommendations and next steps.
*Producing and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
*Working collaboratively with engineers and other departments to deliver projects on time.
*Supporting research and development activities from concept through to production.
*Contributing ideas to improve product performance, manufacturability and efficiency.
*Undertaking any other reasonable engineering duties as required.
What We’re Looking ForThe successful candidate will ideally have:
*A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
*Previous experience in a design or product development environment.
*Experience working on research and development projects (desirable).
*Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
*The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
*Experience with prototype assembly and product testing.
*Strong organisational, project management and communication skills.
*A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
*A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing innovative engineering solutions.
