The purpose of the role is to take ownership of an existing book of long-standing, loyal commercial clients while actively driving new business growth across the region. • Understand each client’s business operations, opportunities and risks, and their approach to risk management and insurance.
• Offer and present insurance solutions, including insurance policies and other risk management solutions, to secure renewals and new business.
• Negotiate with insurers to achieve the best outcomes for clients in terms of cover, service and premium.
• Work closely with Account Handlers and colleagues to deliver excellent client service and achieve team objectives.
• Ensure all activity is conducted in line with FCA regulations and internal compliance procedures.
DAY-TO-DAY
• Managing your own portfolio of commercial clients, acting as their key point of contact.
• Meeting clients and prospects face-to-face and virtually to review their insurance programmes and identify opportunities.
• Preparing and delivering presentations, reports and renewal proposals.
• Liaising with insurers, underwriters and internal teams to structure and place risks.
• Maintaining accurate records and keeping the client management system up to date.
• Communicating regularly with colleagues and your manager to raise concerns, share solutions and support team performance.
EXPERIENCE
• Proven experience as an Account Executive (or similar client-facing role) within commercial insurance broking.
• A strong general commercial background across a range of classes, e.g. property, casualty, motor fleet and liability.
• A track record of retaining clients and winning new business.
• Experience of working with mid-market commercial clients would be advantageous.
• Cert CII qualified (or working towards) is desirable, with support provided for further professional study.
SKILLS
• Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong negotiation and influencing ability with clients and insurers alike.
• Commercially astute, self-motivated and driven to achieve growth targets.
• Well organised, with the ability to manage a busy and varied portfolio.
• A collaborative team player who thrives in a supportive, service-led environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
