We’re recruiting exclusively, on behalf of our client, for an Estimating & Internal Sales Team Leader to take ownership of their estimating function, ensuring customer enquiries are managed efficiently, quotations are delivered accurately, and opportunities are converted into profitable business.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of the business, acting as the key link between Sales, Estimating, Operations, and Suppliers to deliver exceptional customer service and commercial success.

This family run, award winning business, have a team of almost 30 with 8 external Sales people. In this new role, you will oversee the flow of incoming sales enquiries, coordinate workloads across the estimating team, and ensure quotations are produced accurately and within agreed timescales. You will provide leadership, direction, and support to the team while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quote conversion, operational efficiency, and profitability.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE
Location: Ashford, Kent. Office based.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm with ½ hour for lunch

Your role:
The Estimating & Internal Sales Team Leader is responsible for managing the estimating function and coordinating the flow of enquiries from the external sales team. The role ensures enquiries are reviewed, allocated fairly across the estimating team, priced accurately, and returned to customers within agreed timescales. The position acts as the link between Sales, Estimating, Operations and Suppliers to maximise customer satisfaction, quotation conversion, and profitability.
Leadership & Coordination Responsibilities:
*Act as the central coordination point for all incoming sales enquiries.
*Review opportunities and ensure sufficient information is available for pricing.
*Allocate estimating workload fairly across the estimating team based on capacity and complexity.
*Monitor quote progress and ensure deadlines are achieved.
*Prioritise urgent and strategic opportunities appropriately.
*Provide support, direction, and accountability within the estimating team.
*Escalate workload risks and propose solutions.
*Promote collaboration between Sales, Operations and Procurement.
Commercial & Estimating Responsibilities:
*Prepare and review quotations and estimates.
*Maintain pricing accuracy and margin control.
*Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
*Support sales managers with proposals and customer follow-up.
*Maintain CRM records and pipeline visibility.
You’ll be the perfect candidate for this position if you have the following:
*Previous experience within an estimating and internal sales environment.
*Experience leading or coordinating teams and workloads.
*Strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
*Excellent numerical and analytical ability.
*Strong commercial awareness and margin management experience.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Confidence working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
*Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales pipeline data.
