Full job descriptionNenebrook Recruitment Group have been engaged on an exclusive basis by a high profile motor retail business to assist with the confidential recruitment of a high profile, qualified Chief Financial Officer as part of a UK wide search.
Role Overview
The CFO will be a pivotal member of the Executive Leadership Team, partnering closely with the Chief Executive Officer, owners and Board to lead the financial strategy of a substantial group with turnover in excess of £500m.

The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership across all areas of the group, including dealership operations, manufacturer relationships, used vehicles, aftersales, property, funding, treasury, risk, systems, data, governance and performance management.
This is a hands-on board-level role suited to a finance leader who can operate at scale, influence across a distributed operational environment, and guide the business through a period of structural, cultural and commercial change.
Key Priorities
*Shape and deliver a finance strategy that supports a major period of business change, improving transparency, pace and quality of decision-making.
*Strengthen financial controls, governance, forecasting, cash management and working capital discipline across a large, multi-site motor retail group.
*Provide robust commercial insight into new and used vehicle performance, aftersales, manufacturer bonuses, stock management, margin, property and capital allocation.
*Lead the development of a higher-performing finance function with stronger business partnering, data capability, systems discipline and accountability.
*Support the CEO and Board in evaluating strategic options, investment decisions, operational restructuring, acquisitions, disposals, funding arrangements and long-term value creation.
Candidate Profile
Qualified accountant with substantial senior finance leadership experience, ideally as CFO, Finance Director or equivalent in a sizeable, complex, multi-site business.
Experience in automotive retail, motor groups, franchised dealership environments, retail, distribution, consumer, leasing, fleet, property-backed or other working-capital-intensive businesses would be highly relevant.
Proven track record of operating in a business of significant scale, ideally with turnover in the hundreds of millions or above.
Demonstrable experience leading change, transformation, restructuring, systems improvement or professionalisation of a finance function.
High credibility with owners, boards, banks, auditors, manufacturers, operational leaders and external advisers.
Strong understanding of cash, treasury, funding, working capital, stock, margin and capital allocation in a high-volume trading environment.
Confident communicator with the gravitas to challenge constructively, influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex financial issues.

This is a UK wide search with either hybrid working of relocation package offered.
A basic salary of up to £250,000 coupled with Bonus, 5 year LTIP, Car and executive benefits package awaits
